Formed from the ashes of Why?, Quench is a new band featuring three members of the final Why? lineup (Andy Davis, Jamie Hill and Kevin Sefton) as well as new bass player Ron Knights. The band's sound is said to be considerably removed from Why? and their press release cites influences including Blink 182, Counting Crows and U2.

Shine MK are putting the finishing touches to their second album which is set to release in the USA on September 11th. European launch dates have not yet been set. The band, along with producer Zarc Porter, have moved their sound in a more RnB/UK garage direction.

Aieris are planning to release their second EP, Sophomore, in July with a launch party in Edinburgh. The EP has been produced by Phil Lidstone and Ross Hamilton and is being mastered by Denis Blackham (Janet Jackson, Led Zeppelin). The new EP apparently brings in more influences from american indie-rock alongside the british indie which has been influencing the band.

Irish singer-songwriter Brian Houston's new album sees him moving in an americana direction, in part thanks to the backing of The Amazing Pilots. The album can be heard on Steve Stockman's radio show very soon and hopes are high for further airplay once it's properly available. Advance orders can be made by sending a cheque for twelve pounds to Brian.

Yet another act with a new record about ready to go (remember a few months ago when everyone seemed to be going into the studio?) is Plymouth-based 3 Second Memory whose new five track EP will feature artwork from Oxford based artist Tim Steward. The band's headquarters is also set to move soon from Plymouth to Birmingham.

Get Real have just confirmed a new lineup and are anxious to get back on the road. They're going into the studio later this month. Kato, who are currently on tour in Canada, have been delighted by reviews for their new album. The Klyvz have some new material available in MP3 form through their website. Chi2 are featured in this month's DJ Magazine. project3 have been garnering airplay on Newcastle Student Radio and are featured on some of the Leeds University Student Union's publicity postcards.

Things are really hotting up for Delirious? as they prepare for theirlatest assault on the charts. The BBC's Live and Kickingplayed the video for their new single Waiting For TheSummer yesterday and the band have been asked to performlive in the studio on May 26th. MTV2 have playlisted thevideo, the London Evening Standard will be covering itsrelease, and the band are hoping for big support from thevarious retail chains. Add to that their forthcoming BonJovi support slots and this is certainly the most publicitya Delirious? single has had.

The annual Northern Ireland Summer Madness festival has hadto move from its usual location to a new venue, the King'sHall in Belfast, as a result of the recent Foot and Mouthcrisis. The festival will continue to run 18 hours a day inits new venue with a music lineup that includes Sarah Masen, Superhero, The Tribe, Tomorrow'sGirl, TVB, andothers. The event will take place at the end of June andwill still involve camping.

The company discovered Fono throughtheir MP3.com site, which is currently featuring an as yetunreleased track, "Break It All Down".

Bell Jar have just completed their second album and it releases today, with a launch party at JD Pepper's in Cheltenham to follow next month. The album is made up of the four tracks from their last EP and six new recordings, including a reworking of an old Eden Burning hidden track. The sleeve has been designed by Dan Donovan and the album launch will be followed by a number of shows, including slots at the Summer Madness, Cheltenham Fringe and Greenbelt festivals. The album is available for 11 pounds including postage direct from the band or with their last album, Secret Volcanoes for 16 pounds the pair.

Carbon14 are putting the finishing touches to their new EP Focus. The EP which is due for release any day now will feature five new songs and the band mention the Foo Fighters and a variety of power-pop bands when describing it. The band still have a few copies of their previous release available.

Tollbooth Music, who brought us last year's Helen Turner album are preparing a number of new releases for the coming months. Postcards From Aunt Cordelia, the long awaited solo album from studio owner Paul Davies is due to see the light at Greenbelt this year, with a new Eve And The Garden album, a solo album from EATG frontwoman Alison Eve and a dance/ambient album called Enygmata due to see the light later in 2001. The Eve and the Garden album is said to have a laid back folk-roots feel which has taken the band by surprise. The core band members, Alison Eve, Paul Cudby and Paul Davies will also be working together on Alison Eve's solo album which they describe as "very studio, very big sound".

Secret Archives of the Vatican have revealed that their next album will be called 400 Prophets and that they hope to have it out later this year. This will follow Reformation which has gained the duo a lot of attention and is currently on sale through amazon.co.uk and amazon.com. Secret Archives continue to do well on besonic.com, having been included on a couple of compilation albums recently and are also keeping busy with lots of remix work, most recently for Systematic.
