Dissident Prophet MP3s (24th Jan)

It would seem that Dissident Prophet are indeed back together in some form or another and will be appearing live in Birmingham next month. A number of MP3s, encompassing most of their We're Not Grasshoppers album and a number of previously unreleased tracks are now available through their website (link from the band index).

New Superhero Material (24th Jan)

Superhero have released a new track through vitaminic.co.uk called "Don't Run" as part of the MTV undiscovered bands competition. The band are also planning a new series of regular articles on their website.

Dissident Prophet - The Story (25th Jan)

Well we now have complete confirmation that Dissident Prophet are indeed back. The band still features original members Andy Jennings and Tom Livemore and they're joined by Collin Burton and Dave Odart on drums. Andy's wife Melanie plays keyboard and occasionally adds some backing vocals. The new lineup's been together for three months or so now, practicing, writing and recording and they hope to have a new CD out within the next 3-4 months.

Electrics Recording Again (30th Jan)

The Electrics have signed with Plietigier Records in Germany and will soon begin recording at Sammy Horner's home studio with producer Phil Madeira, who also worked on the band's last release. Sammy will also be recording a follow up to his Ceilidh Electric album with Tony Silcock of Psalmistry and is planning another childrens' album at some point. As if that weren't enough work, Sammy's also planning to set up his own label at some point in the near future.

Dove Nominations (30th Jan)

Delirious? and Shine have both been nominated for the US CCM industry self-congratulatory awards known as the Doves. "I Could Sing Of Your Love Forever" by Martin Smith is up for "Song Of The Year", and Glo has been nominated for "praise and worship album of the year". Shine's "Do It Right" is up for "rap/hip-hop/dance recorded song of the year" and the album of the same name is up for "rap/hip-hop/dance album of the year". Delirious? also get a couple of other mentions for their involvement in Roaring Lambs, a compilation album which is up for "special event album of the year" and "recorded music packaging of the year".

Paul Field In The Long Run (31st Jan)

Paul Field's latest album is called In The Long Run. Co-produced with Dave Lynch (R:age, Kato, Toploader), the album features guest appearances from Paul and Phil Wilkinson of The Amazing Pilots and Louise Fellingham of Phatfish and also a song co-written with John Hartley (Phil And John) and US-based luminaries Derri Daugherty and Phil Madeira.

V-Enna are keeping busy, having recently appeared at the Christian Booksellers Convention in the USA and are about to head out on a US tour with Newsboys member Phil Joel. There's no news yet on when the girls will be back in the UK.

U2 Back (31st Jan)

U2, who this week release their latest single to the UK singles market - "Stuck In A Moment (You Can't Get Out Of)" - have confirmed that they will be playing an "intimate" (if you can call a 2000 capacity venue intimate) show at the London Astoria on the 7th February. Tickets are available through a variety of competitions. The band will be playing in the UK in June as part of their "Elevation Tour".
