3rd Day Changing (08th Nov)

After a number of line-up changes earlier in the year, 3rd Day Rising have changed again, with drummer Bill having moved to Surrey. He has been replaced by drum teacher Gareth Smith. The band say that their direction is no longer "Metallica" but is still rock and are currently finishing off work on a new demo before they relaunch the band in 2001.

Shorter Stories (08th Nov)

The Stud-u-Likes have split up, with bassist Lawrence Cockrill moving on to join Macarion. Barnsley based m.e.r.c.y lead are playing in HM Wolds Prison near Hull later this month and are looking for more opportunities to play in prisons. Gsus4 are working on a CD, as are Dr. Jones. The latter will be released on Mister Green Records.

Delirious? Christmas Party (09th Nov)

Currently two dates into the Glo UK tour, Delirious? have announced a special one off date at Shepherd's Bush Empire in late December. Announcing the Christmas show on the band's website, manager Tony Patoto said that the staff at the Empire had been so impressed with the band's latest sold out show at the venue that they were more than happy to add an extra date.

Goldsmiths Record Again (09th Nov)

Only a few months after the release of IKnowYouKnow (which they report is selling well, and which is now available through Virgin Megastores in Coventry), Goldsmiths are about to rush back into the studio in an attempt to get an EP completed to release at their Christmas event on December 17th. Bass player Danny has had to leave the band due to moving to Germany and has been replaced by Dave "Iggy" who is said to have fitted in quickly.

Dust Back From Eastern Europe (09th Nov)

Josh Jones played his last gig as bass player with Dust in September. He's subsequently been replaced by Birmingham-based Nicko. The band have been busy touring Poland, initially with death metal act "None" and later supporting "2 Timothy 2,3". The band are currently reviewing live footage recorded on their tour of the Czech Republic in March for a possible live album. They're also hoping to record some new tracks with producer Paul Burton in December.

Greenbelt Make First Announcements (10th Nov)

The Greenbelt Festival has sent out its first round of publicity for the 2001 event, which will be entitled "Eternal Echoes". So far booked for the festival is popular speaker Tony Campolo, with some music names due to be announced very soon. There is once again a big discount on youth tickets after the response to last year's special offer and there are plenty of other savings to be made by booking early.

Ian Hamilton has resigned as managing director of Alliance Music in order to take up a position with Compassion International. He is replaced by Dave Withers, a long time member of the Alliance Music team. Shelley Needham has joined Word Records as manager, replacing Jonathan Brown who left a few months ago for a role with Furious?

Rodney and Rudolph Anniversary (11th Nov)

Next year marks twenty years since Rodney Cordner and Jean-Pierre Rudolph first began playing together. The duo plan to celebrate this impressive anniversary with a series of concert tours playing material from throughout their two decades together. If you'd like to promote a concert, they'd love to hear from you. Keep an eye on the gig guide for details of gigs in the UK and Ireland. The pair also have a new album out called One Of The Few.

Coastal Recordings (11th Nov)

Coastal Dune are back in the studio working on the album follow-up to their If and When EP. They have a couple of tracks down already and are really pleased with how it's going, but are also taking advantage of the studio time (two band members work as programmers for the studio in question) and not rushing. They hope to have the as-yet-untitled album out early in the new year.

Why? No More (12th Nov)

For the second time in just over a year we can report that the name Why? is to disappear from the scene very soon. The guys who formed the latest lineup plan to change their name at the end of the year and are also promising a "complete overhaul of their musical direction". The new band will continue to record on Alliance Music. The band have asked us to pass on their "most sincere thanks for all the love and support we have received this year" and are looking forward to their new venture. The move is sure to please a number of people who have expressed concern about the band continuing as Why? after the departure of Ant Parker. The last chance to see this incarnation of Why? will be on December 15th in Maidstone (click the link for more info). They are also looking for a new bass player -- check out the message boards.

Major For Caroline? (12th Nov)

Caroline Alexander's second single is to be released on December 8th. A double A-side featuring the tracks "I Don't Need You" and "Healed" (a cover of the Split Level song) is again produced by Dave Lynch. Caroline is half-way through a seven week spell in the studio recording six new tracks with producers Lionel Hicks and Tony Ritchie. The tracks are to be mixed in Germany by American producer Denis Ward for BMG and it is thought that they could form the basis of a major label deal next year. Caroline is playing one more live date this year.

Dum Dums International (12th Nov)

The Dum Dums are heading to Japan this week for a promotional tour, to follow the release of their debut album there on November 8th. The group, who have just completed a sell-out tour supporting Robbie Williams also recently released their album in the USA and supported Paul Weller at Earl's Court.

Steve Lawson, creator of the current indie of the month is playing at St. Luke's church in London on Friday 17th November along with Andy Thornton. Steve's album continues to receive good reviews. It is featured in this month's Bass Frontiers magazine and is soon to be reviewed in Bass Player and New Age Voice.

Beehive Manager's New Club (13th Nov)

Former Beehive manager Hadyn Wood has recently been involved in the foundation of a new acoustic club in the Bier Keller in Bracknell. Their songwriters night, "Unplugged and Intimate" has already drawn considerable music industry interest, with a number of familiar faces appearing in the crowd. Kato Releases (14th Nov)

Kato's Seasider was released in the USA through Rhythm House at the end of October. We are now receiving unconfirmed reports that the band have signed with ICC Records to record a new album, which they'll be working on for the remainder of this year. The band are hoping to arrange a large UK tour for next April.

Zuba's Hogmanay (15th Nov)

World-music band Zuba have been booked for Glasgow's Hogmanay 2000 celebrations to play on the main stage alongside Teenage Fanclub to an expected audience of 35,000. The band played the event last year on the world music stage and have spent the past year supporting acts including the Levellers and Martyn Bennett. Their new album, Chameleon, releases next month with launch events in both Edinburgh and Glasgow.

Superhero Management and Recording (15th Nov)

Superhero have just signed a management deal with Big Ideas, the Cardiff-based organisation which was responsible for the World Wide Message Tribe tour a few months back. The band are off to the USA in January and will spend Easter touring Norway. They hope to fit in a UK tour during the early part of 2001 too. They have spent the last few weeks working on some new songs which they hope to record early in the new year, and are currently in negotiations with Room 3 Records, Alliance Music and ICC.
