One band who were impressive at Greenbelt earlier this year were Scottish four-piece Fabulous. I've finally managed to get hold of a copy of their latest EP and contact details. A new compilation album, Cry For Justice has recently beenreleased to raise money for the Sudan. The album contains contributionsfrom artists from Australia, the Netherlands, USA, Sweden and the UK. Okay, for those of us in the UK they're not that new, but delirious?'sfirst accolades of the year roundup season came in recently when readersof the USA's Release magazinevoted them "Favorite New Artist Or Group". The band also tied withNewsboys and dc Talk in fifth place for the "Song That Most Inspires You"award (for "deeper"), in third place for "Favorite Song" and their KingOf Fools album was fifth in the running for "Favorite Album".Congratulations to the d: boys. The new album is still due for release inthe Spring next year, and the band have been doing some work with producerTedd T who was in the UK working on the forthcoming Raze album.

The new album from speed-folksters Why? is to be called Happy andlaunches on February 15th next year. The much delayed new album from dance act Psalmistry, Armchair Rebellion, is now recorded and the final production touches are being put to it before the UK release through Word Records. On the European mainland the albu, will be released on the Extreme Devotion label and it will probably have distribution in Australia and South Africa. The album has twelve tracks and will include the single "By Your Side". The group also have live dates coming up including: 23rd January, Planet Life with WWMT; 31st January in Brighton; and 6th February at Sublime in Southampton. Another band with a much anticipated new release on the way is Iona. The band are preparing for a concert with the All Souls Orchestra in May at the Royal Festival Hall in London, a show that will also feature appearances from past Iona members. The concert will mark the ten year anniversary of the ground breaking celtic band and may well be used by the band to debut new material for an album due towards the end of 1999.

Before salivating too much over the new Iona album, fans might like to hear that the band's acclaimed vocalist is indeed planning a solo album for March release, probably on Alliance Music. Rumours have been floating around since late last year that this was the case and they have finally been confirmed. More details, as ever, when we get them.
