This band has split up
Expanse claim to be a resounding orchestra of acoustic and harmonious vibes, alongside funky bass and more upbeat rhythmic elements, appealing to a wide audience. Sounds you can chill out too, get deep into and dance however you like to. It's not just about the music though, with lyrics addressing issues of love and the human soul, they encourage the listener to reflect upon the message in the songs. Expanse has been around since late '98 when 'Miss Kay' was inspired to lead a band after the Greenbelt Arts Festival that year. Since then, the line-up has changed a bit, but has remained in its current form since late '00.
The decision to include a local band not normally found at "Christian" events has drawn some press attention for Cheltenham's Pentecost 2000 event. The Chaos Engine, who have been invited as part of the event organisers' attempt to encourage local talent, wouldn't be drawn on their beliefs, saying simply that they "don't believe in following religion blindly" (which hopefully none of us do...). Other artists slated to appear at the event at Cheltenham Racecourse include Delirious?, our current indie of the month skinflowers, World Wide Message Tribe, Urban Militia, and Expanse.
