Martyn Joseph reports that the second volume of his live album is ready to go. He'll be finalising art work this week and should have stock in around 4 weeks. He was due to appear on Songs Of Praise this weekend but the show (filmed in Glasgow) has been cancelled for Sunday, due to the passing of the Queen Mother. It probably won't get shown now until August or September. Apparently there has been a lot of trouble getting the show past the censors, and Martyn wonders whether he might actually have been the cause of the show's postponement!

As those who receive our gig
guide e-mails will be aware, we've been helping to
pull together a new series of events in Reading.
Delicatessen will present a series of laid back acoustic

the first series of events kick off on April 23rd with sets
from Cathy Burton
 and Airstar.
Subsequent events will feature a range of acts
including Iain Archer, Bill Mallonee (Vigilantes of Love), Dolly Varden,
Four Storeys and Elan. For more details check out the
website at

Carbon14 have announced that from now on they will be going under the shortened name C-14. Things have been going well for the band and they have secured a support slot with west country rockers Reef on June 15th at The Queens Theatre in Barnstaple.

After 3 years together, Eskimo Sunbed have decided to call it a day. They say that this "has mainly been due to balancing the pressures of
being an up and coming band and other commitments". This would appear to have been a fairly sudden decision: with Gareth leaving the band 2 weeks ago to concentrate on a full-time music career and Christian subsequently deciding he wanted to focus on his session playing, the other two band members didn't feel it right to continue as Eskimo Sunbed.

Cephas are gearing
up for their biggest headline show to date in the form of
their single launch on April 26th in Aldershot. The band have lined up a couple of
local support acts and look to be causing quite a stir in
the area's scene. A few MP3s of the band's new
material are available from their website and we've just
added a link to the track "Puppet Show" which isn't
available anywhere else yet. Check it out through
their page.

Secret Archives of the Vatican report that their new
release is almost ready. They have yet to decide on a
name for the double-album. To fill the time before the
record appears, both members of the group have been
working on side-projects. Louis has been working on a
deep-dub orientated project titled Uncle Riotous and
plans to release a short-run CDR release soon. Vince
will be releasing a short-run CDR titled Sympathy For Hosea under
the name Thousand Yard Prayer shortly. He describes
it as "housey-breakbeat dub with Persian and
Arabian melodies." The guys have also been doing
various remix and mastering projects for other artists.

The Maddy Leigh Blues Band are currently in the process of recording their debut album on Meltdown Records. Meltdown report that the recording is almost complete and are very pleased with the work American producer Jeff Scheetz is doing. The album is described as having a strong blues feel (as the band's name suggests) with the occasional jazzy track.

Bristol based Steve
return home to play a gig on the 25th of April at the
Fleece and Firkin. It's been a busy year for the band
with an album released on both sides of the atlantic
and they say they're looking forward to a return to
familiar territory.
