Next Delirious? Single Marks Departure (30th Sep)

The next Delirious? single will mark a departure from the band's previous separation of their mainstream and worship material. In a bizarre move, the band have decided to release a new version of Cutting Edge-era worship song "I Could Sing Of Your Love Forever". Cross Rhythms quote Jonathan Brown of Furious? Records as saying: "Delirious? fans may be surprised by the choice of song but when they hear this stunning new version I think many will agree that it makes sense to pitch it at the mass audience. The single will be released towards the end of the d:tension tour on December 10th. Before that the band's Fierce Distribution will be releasing "Schizophrenic" by Earthsuit (29th October) and "Close To Myself" by Kendall Payne. Both artists performed at this year's Greenbelt festival, with Earthsuit going down particularly well with the assembled Dum Dums fans. What do you think about these single releases. Are delirious? deciding that they need to win back their core Christian audience? Discuss it on our discussion boards.

Girl Groups Depart (01st Oct)

In what appears to be a strange coincidence, both Shine and V-Enna have announced plans to split. The two girl groups had also formed around the same time and purveyed similar brands of "pure pop". Shine's latest album Keep On Moving had just been released in the UK and its planned US release has now been cancelled -- the band are said to feel "called to pastures new" and it is unclear what will now happen to the Shine Trust who operated their evangelistic work in Milton Keynes and who recently issued a press release saying they would not be continuing to employ the band due to the desire of three members to move on, or their operations manager. V-Enna say their split is due to family commitments following the marriage of Lucy Britten to Tribe member Linz.

Newish Delirious Album (03rd Oct)

It appears that the recently reported release of "I Could Sing of Your Love Forever" as the next Delirious? single is in part intended to tie in with the UK release of Deeper, a compilation of more worship focussed material gathered from the band's albums to date, from Cutting Edge onwards. The album has recently been released in the US and is expected to be released in the UK in early January with a few as yet undisclosed changes from the US release.

Iona Box Set (06th Oct)

In between announcing that vocalist Joanne Hogg has given birth to a baby boy named Isaac (congratulations Jo) and that their website is to be redesigned very soon, Iona have informed us that they've been dropped by Forefront records "in favour of looking to sign 'pop acts capable of wider crossover appeal'". Since Forefront had a deal which meant they helped Alliance fund Iona's recording projects, Alliance are no longer able to continue their deal with the band who as a result are now independent. The band have decided to experiment with independetly releasing future albums on their own label and are asking fans to pre-order future projects to help with financing them. At the same time Dave Bainbridge has announced that the first release on Iona's new label will be a 4 CD box set containing the band's first three albums and an additional CD of unreleased material, both live and studio. The box set will also include a 56 page booklet of archive photos. The proposed release date is Spring 2002 and the band are asking interested fans to get in touch for more information.
