Another Discussion Board (10th Feb)

We've just added another discussion board to the site. "Tech Talk" supplements our existing boards as a place to discuss technical questions, your favourite gear, recording questions and anything else of that sort. The discussion boards have been increasing in popularity in recent weeks, do be sure to check them out if you haven't already.

Artists in the Press (12th Feb)

A number of Britlinks listed artists have been getting some good mainstream press recently. Skinflowers' collaboration with The Chaos Engine at the Underworld in Camden recently got a positive review in Metal Hammer. Folk/world mag Dirty Linen have a review of Iona's Open Sky in their February/March issue, and Zuff's band Pesky Thomas got a glowing review in the Medway Standard.

Delirious? Follow Up Donations (12th Feb)

Stu G, Jon and Tim from Delirious? are heading to South Africa later this month to see where the money they raised for Hope HIV in last year's London marathon has gone. The money was put towards the building of a 32 bed care facility for young children with HIV which opens on February 20th. Jon and Kristen Thatcher have also announced that they're naming their baby daughter "Winona Grace".

Don't Panic Disband (12th Feb)

Scottish band Don't Panic have disbanded and Backwater Scotland, the organisation behind the band have ceased offering their PA services. The band's planned second album On Second Thoughts... will not now be released.

Graham, Matt and Martin (13th Feb)

The first Graham Kendrick album in six years ago is currently being recorded. What Grace is produced by Andy Piercy (remember After The Fire?) and includes contributions from Matt Redman and Delirious? frontman Martin Smith. Kendrick says the album will be made up mostly of songs "focusing on the Lord", trying to move away from the experiential trend which has dominated much recent worship music. The album will release on April 1st and is to be distributed by Delirious' distribution company Fierce! who have also just released the new album by US surf-pop-rockers Switchfoot.

Back to the Vision (13th Feb)

John Heavens has been in touch to let us know that he has a new solo album, Back To The Vision out. The album's sees him moving in a singer-songwriter direction and with its release he has announced that the band Big Vision are on hold to allow him to focus on his solo adventures.

Tidbits (13th Feb)

Tim Sherrington has begun revising his album Undone ready for its re-release on Kingsway later this year. Simon Goodall has launched an all new website. Simon's soon to release a short video and has two tracks included on this year's Spring Harvest albums. Goldsmiths have also recently unveiled a new website and are currently recording an EP followup to their IKnowYouKnow album, due for release later this year. deeperwiderhigher wrote this week's notes for the word-on-the-web.co.uk bible reading notes -- in coming weeks notes will be written by members of Shine and Sue Rinaldi.

Dead Men Walking (14th Feb)

Mike Peters will be one of the four artists involved in the forthcoming "Dead Men Walking" tour. Along with Pete Wylie (the Mighty Wah), Kirk Brandon (Spear of Destiny and Theatre of Hate) and Glen Matlock (the Sex Pistols), Mike will be undertaking a six date tour in which each of the performers will do a solo set, followed by a closing set with all four on stage together. The former Alarm frontman continues to keep busy and is now offering CDRs of each concert he plays for sale to fans.

Cephas Record Again (14th Feb)

Punk boys Cephas are returning to the studio this week to begin work on the follow-up to their Happy Go Loser EP which sold out a few months ago. The band expect the new recording, which will consist of five tracks, to have a harder edge to its predecessor. The band have been gigging hard around the Surrey/Berkshire/Hampshire area and have attracted a string of positive reviews with one writer recently describing them as sounding a bit like "early Idlewild with better vocals".
