Supervision's New EP (27th Sep)

Supervision have just completed recording of a new 4-track EP titled Shining Star and will be launching it with a live set this Friday at the Liverpool Lomax. The band say to expect a more eclectic set, reflecting developing interests and influences.

Having recently returned from another trip to Ireland, yfriday are now preparing to record the follow up to their Rainmaker album. They will be doing some gigs in Scotland and the Midlands during October, before heading into the studio with producer Neil Costello during November.

Wades Nominated for MOBO (27th Sep)

R'n'B/Gospel act The Wades have been nominated for the "Best Gospel Act" at this year's MOBO awards for their new album A Family Thing. The group are up against three American nominees, Mary Mary, Trin-I-Tee5:7 and the Winans for the award. The awards ceremony will be held at London's Alexandra Palace on October 4th and broadcast on Channel 4 the following night and anyone interested can vote for the awards through the MOBO website at mobo.net.

Electrics Album Plans (27th Sep)

The Electrics have had to put their planned tour of Europe on hold until March/April 2001 as a result of complications with the dates. The band will be using the rest of this year to prepare a new album which they hope to begin recording towards the end of the year as well as fitting in their annual trip to Christmas Rock Night in Germany. David Lyon, the band's accordion player, has departed to work on solo projects.

Dum Dum's Album Charts (28th Sep)

Pop-rock act The Dum Dums saw their debut album, <>i>It Goes Without Saying enter the album charts at number 27, following the entry of the single You Do Something To Me's entry at the same point last week. The single has fallen to number 47 in this week's charts.

Delirious? Web Changes (02nd Oct)

Currently preparing for the release of Glo in the USA next week, Delirious? have made some changes to the way their websites are managed, removing the delirious.net site which served North America and beginning the process of integrating it with delirious.co.uk to form a larger global Delirious? website.

Secret Archives and Friends (02nd Oct)

Secret Archives of the Vatican have just completed a remix of the track "Father of the Fatherless" for friend Chris Roe. The track is available for download along with a number of other SAOTV tracks at besonic.com. The new Secret Archives album is now due for release early next year.

Chi2 on Later... (05th Oct)

Violinist duo Chi2, made up of sisters Sarah and Liz Liew, will be joining Moby for his "Later With Jools" session broadcast this Saturday (7th October). Sarah will be doing some improv violin during the show. Chi2 are still working on their debut album collaborating with Scanner, si-cut.db and bitTonic (Sprawl Imprint) and Doppler 20:20 (Law and Auder) and some guest vocalists. They have also been working on a number of tracks for TV shows.

Former World Wide Message Tribe frontman Cameron Dante is sharing a vision for a Radio 1 roadshow style event next June, at Arnold Methodist on Friday 13th Octoberat 7.30pm. Dee Moore will be touring along with support act Spanna over the next few months -- check out the gig guide for dates. The Dum Dums are asking fans who see them on their current tour to e-mail them with photos and stories to contribute to an online "tour scrapbook". Josh from the Dum Dums will appear on "Never Mind the Buzzcocks" on Friday 6th October.

Coastal Dune Battle London Bands (10th Oct)

Having completed their round of gigs at Fresher's Week at their Durham University home, Coastal Dune are preparing for a gig on Thursday 30th November at The Fountain, Seven Sisters (London). It is a Battle of the bands called "Showcase 2000" which has been advertised in Melody Maker, and is one of an increasing number of showcase gigs the band are undertaking.

Dum Dums Welcome Broadband (10th Oct)

On October 18th the Dum Dums will be playing a free gig at King Tuts in Glasgow, to be filmed exclusively for BT's Open World and webcast at a later date. This webcast will be the first ever Broadband Ondemans webcast of a gig in the UK. The band will be on stage between 10:00pm - 10:45pm, heading to the gig straight after supporting Robbie Williams across town. Lots of Updates (15th Oct)

We're having some connectivity problems here at Britlinks HQ, so sadly updates haven't been coming as quickly as we might have liked. Nevertheless the site has recently had quite a bit of work done to it, including improved band pages which now include forthcoming gigs and recent news stories, a revised "news search" feature for finding past news about a given band, a totally revised record labels section and a number of less prominent updates.

As a result of the connectivity problems mentioned below, this month's indie of the month has been rather delayed and as a result will remain in place until early November rather than the end of October. Iona Travel Abroad (21st Oct)

Iona are to return to North America after quite a break to play at the Baja California progressive rock festival in Mexico at the end of February/start of March. More details can be found at www.1russ.com/BAJAPROG/. The band will also be appearing in the Netherlands at the Winter Wonder Rock festival in early December, which also features Delirious?. Nick Beggs will rejoin the band for the Dutch show due to the absence of Phil Barker.

Emmaus in the USA (21st Oct)

Rojo and Joanne from Emmaus are about to make another trip to the USA in order to undertake a 17-date tour promoting the stateside release of their latest album, Closer Nearer. The rest of the band will join them for the "Godstock" festival in San Antonio, Texas on November 24th which they will be headlining. The band recently took part in "Europe Arise" in Turin during the buildup to the World Youth Day celebrations in Rome.

New Carbon14 EP (24th Oct)

Carbon14 asked us to pass on their thanks to everyone who supported them over the summer. They had a busy time playing venues from London to Scotland. They still have a last few copies of their Detached and Connected EP available and will have a new EP, Time Bomb around the new year, which will include three new tracks and some bonus live recordings.

Secret Archives Compiled (24th Oct)

Secret Archives of the Vatican have put together two compilation albums tied in with their pages at besonic.com. Both titled Deep In The Archives the CDs are a collection of some of the band's favourite independent tracks. They've also uploaded a few more tracks to their page, including one rare older track only previously available on an obscure compilation.
