As reported a couple of weeks ago, popular "funky-frock" act Why? are about to return to stages around the country. The band have a new guitarist, Kev Sefton, who will replace founding member Ant Parker. The band will make their first appearance with the new lineup at this year's Spring Harvest. Drummer Andy Davis promises that "people will be able to enjoy the music of Why? as before but hopefully cope with yet another line-up change".

Mal Pope recently returned from some time spent recording in Nashville to learn that his latest single, a triple A-side disc featuring "Golden Days", "If I Wasn't There", and "How It Hurts" has been playlisted by BBC Radio 2. Elton John sings backing vocals on the latter two tracks. Pope has also been busy recently playing in Belinda Carlisle's backing band and is also hoping to secure a promotional deal with a major high street retailer very soon.

Martyn Joseph has recently returned from another successful tour of Canada but is already planning to play there again this summer at a selection of music festivals. His website continues to develop quickly and online credit card processing has recently been added to the site, allowing fans worldwide the opportunity to sign up for his fanclub, or buy merchandise through the site. Far From Silent is reviewed in the latest issue of Folk Roots magazine.

Open Sky, the new album from Iona is to be mastered tomorrow (Thursday 30th March) and will be released in the UK through Alliance Music on May 1st. The band kick off their UK tour the next day.

Freddie Kofi's long awaited follow up to Love X Love will be titled Journey: Destination Paradise and will release through Word UK on April 17th. Tracks from the album have already been nominated for an international songwriting award and the album will be launched alongside James Baldwin's "The Amen Corner" in association with Nottingham Playhouse and Tricycle Theatre, London.

The year is shaping up well for Fire Fly. The band will be playing at Youth Alive along with artists including Delirious? and have recently added a mechanical member to their lineup -- they describe their developing sound as "trip hop, skip and jump". The band's management have been in negotiations with a selection of labels and a contract has recently been issued for consideration.

Embellish have recently finished recording in the Motor Museum Studios in Liverpool, recently used by Atomic Kitten. The band laid down six tracks with the assistance of Andy McCluskey. They are hoping to spend the next few months working on their live show and finding outlets for the new material.

House Molari is the title of a new hard jungle project due out of the Broken Drum stable (home to Secret Archives of the Vatican) later this year. The project will be based Indian and Arabic rhythmic theory and will feature plenty of tabla and other traditional instruments. SAOTV now have enough tunes down for a double album. The new material is described as both phatter and more influenced by traditional non-western musical forms. It will include some live sitar and rap from MinistriOfDefence. The band hope to have the album out in the autumn.

One Voice is the name of a worship event planned by Nameless Music, due to occur on June 17th. Big Blue Sky will be leading worship and their set will be recorded for possible release as a live album.

A review of the new album by dba is now available from their website. No release date has yet been set for the album, which is titled Spectrum. Dust have shut down their website while they work on a new one. Restore My Soul is the new album from Johnny Markin available now through ICC. Mark Houston tells us that he is part of a new band called m.e.r.c.y lead formed by former members of Pray Naked, Jubal and Red. The sound is described as "more blues than alternative, but still edgy"
