Busy times in the Psalmistry camp. Tony Silcott (a.k.a. The Psalmist) has been recording and producing a range of other artists in his studio including "MC Dred" who came down with BBC cameras to film the proceedings, Eskimo Sunbed and Dropknee whose single is being profiled on XFm. Tony's debut vinyl release - RSTJ "Selecta" is reportedly receiving critical acclaim in underground reviews. Meanwhile, Psalmistry have added a guitarist to their live set. Mark Cocks, formerly of Ripcord, has been playing with the band since Greenbelt 2001. The group have recently been back in the studio working on the follow up to their All This Noise album. They promise that the new album will have "a massive new sound"
Breakbeat rockers Psalmistry tell us they will be attempting to play a small acoustic set at Wesley Owen, Park St, Bristol tomorrow. They say it will feature many songs they never usually play live and will start at 4pm. The group are keeping busy with gigs at the moment and look set to cross the Atlantic this summer, having been pencilled in for Cornerstone Festival in the States on 6th July. They promise news on their new album soon.
Psalmistry have announced that they are definitely going to be at the Cornerstone festival in the USA this weekend and will also be doing their first ever Chicago date while over there. They are also set to play at the Ashton Court Festival from July 21-22 in Bristol, where they will join a number of local bands on outdoor stages. From there, it's on to Greenbelt.
Psalmistry are starting work on their third album, though there is no news on distribution as yet. The band say they are looking into the possibility of a deal with an american label or possibly putting the record out independently. They've recently updated their website with a few concert dates and a diary of their summer's activities.
Plans for a scaled down version of the planned "Christmas Rock Night" in London this autumn appear to be going ahead, with news of 7 events over the weekend of 6/7/8 December at London's Garage venue. YMCA and Asylum will be working together for a night on December 8th which will feature Steve, Psalmistry, Fire Fly, Kosher, Xphere, V-12, Axlanbay and Zedisforzebra. It looks like Fono will be returning to the UK for one of the events, and other acts said to be appearing include hotly tipped bands Elviss and Reuben.
