New Waves of Cephas speculation
A daunting invitation to play the violin in a prison prompted classically trained musician Alex Robertson to write the haunting, expressive improvisations which became the album "Spirit to Spirit". Trained as a violinist at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, Alex's conversion to Christianity forced a radical rethink of his attitude to music as a means of personal expression. A personal blend of influences, rooted in the classical tradition but breaking out beyond it, adds up to a distinctive and individual style and sound. Committed to ministry rather than entertainment, Alex sees music as a powerful channel for spiritual communication. He now works full time with Barratt Ministries, a teaching and media organization in Manchester, and ministers regularly in Britain and abroad. The past year has seen visits to France, Belgium, Holland and Canada.
Plans have emerged for a festival next year in Milton Keynes, to feature Kato, Bell Jar and others. Check out our discussion boards to find the announcement. Rodney Cordner and Jean-Pierre Rudolph have released a CD "Milestones" to celebrate 20 years playing and touring together. Alex Robertson is working on new album due for release before end of the year. 2bc have their first CD, still don't know, out now. A track from the CD is available from download through their page at britlinks. 3rd Day Rising have a track on the Barclay James Harvest tribute album, Everyone by Everbody Else . They've done a rearrangement of 'Hymn'. Marilla Ness has been voted International Artist of the Year and her best selling album 'Holy One of Israel' has received the accolade of International Album of the Year at the first ever UCMVA (United Catholic Music and Video Association) unity awards held at the Catholic University in Washington DC.
